To qualify for admission, a learner has to be 7 to 14 years of age, the exit age is 18 years.
Here are the requirements for admission into our school, based on the Department of Basic Education’s guidelines, Screening, Identification, Assessment and Support (SIAS) policy, for Learners with Special Educational Needs. The learner should go through these FIVE Steps to be admitted.

Obtain the Referral Form through the Inclusive Education Unit of the Department of Education. The form may also be downloaded from the school website where available.

Learners may be referred to Iteko Special School through mainstream schools, from home, or through transfers from other provinces and districts, in accordance with the applicable Department of Education referral and placement procedures.

This referral form is completed by the referring school.

The referral form is then taken to the Inclusive Education division for assessment.

Once assessment is done the Inclusive education division allocates LSEN number to the learner.

The learner will then come to complete admission form at our school.
To qualify for placement in a public special school, the learner must:
- Have a barrier to learning that cannot be adequately supported in a mainstream school even with additional support.
- Have undergone the Screening, Identification, Assessment and Support (SIAS) process through the District-Based Support Team (DBST).
- Have a placement recommendation from the DBST
