Our curriculum is designed to meet the unique needs of every learner, ensuring they receive the right balance of academic learning, life skills, and personal development. We follow the South African National Curriculum Statement (NCS), guided by the Curriculum and Assessment Policy Statements (CAPS), but adapt it to suit learners with special educational needs.
Three Curriculum Pathways
We recognise that each learner is different. Our school offers three curriculum pathways to provide the right level of support and challenge:
For learners who can follow the standard curriculum with some adjustments to pace, teaching style, and assessment methods.
A simplified version of the national curriculum with reduced content, focusing on core literacy, numeracy, and life skills.
For learners with severe or multiple disabilities, focusing on practical life skills, independence, and functional learning.
Co-Curricular Activities
At Iteko Special School, we believe in developing our learners’ talents beyond the classroom. Our learners have excelled in various cultural and sporting events, achieving recognition at both national and international levels.
Choir Excellence: Our school choir proudly achieved 1st position in a national-level choir competition.
Sporting Achievement: We celebrate the success of Goitsemodimo Mosepele, one of our learners, who won 1st place in swimming at the World Special Olympics.
These achievements reflect the dedication of our learners, the commitment of our coaches and teachers, and the spirit of excellence we strive for in every activity.
